We create sleeping mats for people sleeping rough, handwoven from recycled plastic bags & bottles.
We pull together communities to:
- collect waste soft plastic bags, agricultural plastic and waste textiles destined for landfill
- weave the sleeping bags and sleeping mats from the recycled materials
- provide community service opportunities to individuals, students and corporates by holding workshops to teach the mat-weaving and sleeping bag making
- distribute the mats free to homeless services across Australia.
Our recycled sleeping mats are:
- waterproof & insulating
- insect-proof & odour-proof
- lightweight & portable, rolling up small with a sturdy carrying-strap
- comfortable and spongey, rolling out to 190x90cm when flat
- durable & easy to clean
By provide an insulating, comfortable and hygienic barrier between the ground and the person sleeping rough, these mats make it easier to stay warm, clean and dry.
But most importantly, the mats are:
